The Summer Law Institute is hosted by six law schools in New York City: The NY&DC Summer Academy offers intellectually curious high school students the opportunity to pursue their passions and study with experts in journalism, media, politics, technology, arts, culture, sports, business, fashion, and more. (continued) The goals of the program are to provide access to legal education experience for first-generation students, low-income and/or underrepresented students in law school programs and ultimately to contribute to the diversification of legal practitioners in Milwaukee and beyond. Penn Law Pre-College Academy is a rigorous academic program that gives high school students around the world the opportunity to experience law school at a world-class university. This 3-week intensive academy provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the U.S. legal system and the practice of law in the United States. With a scholarship from one of the nation`s top law schools, you`ll learn from Penn Carey Law School and legal practitioners about current legal issues shaping the United States today. Have you ever wondered what`s behind a criminal`s head? Delve into the pathology of a serial killer, the motive of a stalker or the face of a domestic terrorist. In this course, students will learn not only about the various mental illnesses that often occur in criminals, but also what to look for at a crime scene in order to catch the perpetrator. (continued) At the Youth Summer Institute, students will put their skills into practice with an 8-minute oral argument. We will guide them in analyzing the law and organizing their arguments, and they will have a great time practicing their arguments with their teammates and other SYI students. Students will actively participate in learning how to write an opening statement, present their arguments, and answer questions in real time to real lawyers and judges.
Marquette Law School law students will mentor students on their arguments every step of the way. Are there alternatives to ILS? Yes. Students who successfully complete the SLI can apply to College Bound, a comprehensive four-year enrichment and academic support program designed to take students to our nation`s most selective colleges. Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes is an online, summer academic enrichment program that provides talented and intellectually curious students currently in grades 8-11 with intensive learning in a single course. (continued) The Summer Law & Trial Institute is an 8-day virtual program that aims to improve understanding of the law and its opportunities among students from Ohio to Southeast Ohio. The program also aims to spark interest in all aspects of education, service and legal issues, creating the next generation of legal, advocacy and community professionals. Tuition is $8,999 for the housing program, which includes room and board, and $5,999 for the shuttle option for local Philadelphia students, which does not include accommodation and meals. Since the inclusion of adult role models is critical to a student`s academic success, a special orientation session for parents, guardians and mentors will be held to learn the steps needed to help students support the process of taking standardized tests, applying to university, and seeking financial aid. Parents/guardians are also invited to attend the oral presentation and stay for the banquet and closing ceremony. The Summer Institute in Law (SLI) is a five-week summer law program for students who have just completed their eighth year of school.
The Summer Law Institute urges aspiring ninth graders to think of themselves as young education professionals. The program exposes them to positive and successful role models, engages them in professional pursuits, and sets them on a path that can lead to achieving their dreams. Students who complete the SLI can apply to our 4-year College Bound program. Who is eligible for the ILS? Eighth graders from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens can apply for SLI.
