A pet boarding house operator must meet all of the following pet care requirements: peak hours and holidays, an additional fee of $3 per night for boarding services. (d) Medicines may be given to shelter animals only if they are supplied and instructed by the owner or if they are prescribed directly by a veterinarian. a) Animal rescue groups must have and follow written manuals containing guidelines for the group and nursing homes that cover, but are not limited to, the following areas: rescue group rules, animal care standards, hygiene protocols, vaccination protocols, veterinary and emergency care protocols, parasite treatment and prevention programs, emergency numbers for first responders and volunteers, contingency plans, standards and inspection plans for nursing homes; Adoption standards. (a) the operator of a pet boarding house shall provide each owner with written information describing: (e) `pet boarding house` means any parcel, building, structure, pen or premises or part thereof, with four or more dogs, cats or other pets in any combination, upon request and against compensation from their owner. However, “Animal Boarding House” does not include any city, county or county animal control authority, animal cruelty prevention business or animal welfare society entrusted to the care of stray or abandoned animals, or the premises of a veterinary establishment registered under section 4853 of the Business and Professional Code. § 122381. operators of pet boarding houses; Responsibilities (f) Compliance with and adherence to written policies and procedures regarding animal care, safe management and handling, disease prevention and control, routine care, preparedness, emergency care, veterinary treatment, and disaster planning, evacuation and recovery that apply to the pet boarding site. These procedures must be reviewed with each employee who provides animal care and must be present in writing, electronically or physically, at the facility and made available to all staff. Boarding services may only be provided by an approved boarding establishment. Boarding kennels are only allowed in the M-1 zoning with the prior approval of the city. (d) A recipient of a pet boarding house who has been verified to have complied with a notification of correction is not subject to subsection g.
(f) Notwithstanding clause (a): the operator of a pet boarding house that causes harm to an animal or that allows an animal to be exposed to an unreasonable risk of harm or injury is guilty of an offence. (b) Where the pet boarding differs materially from the usual practices described in the written information required in paragraph (a) in respect of an owner`s pet, the operator of the pet boarding house shall, where applicable, notify the owner or client of such discrepancies. A business operated by a person or group of persons that includes live animals, including, but not limited to, animal rescue, shelter, kennel, foster care, care services, commercial kennel, pet daycare, pet care, pet care, pet store or training facility.
