Application for the Bachelor of Science, Multidisciplinary Design program begins with the completion of core design courses within the College of Architecture and Planning. This process takes at least a year before a student can apply directly to the program. The Design Foundation course requirements are part of a college-wide program and do not constitute guaranteed admission or admission to the multidisciplinary design program. We encourage all students to consult with advisors before embarking on this process. Planning and understanding your study path is crucial for successful application. Information about our program and requirements can be found here. Currently, the program welcomes 90 students over a three-year course. Students complete the program in a specific order of courses that are considered lockstep. The Multidisciplinary Design program is a full-time degree and requires 30 to 40 hours of dedication per week. Students are expected to prioritize their efforts in the program over work outside of work or other curricular commitments. Each year, approximately 80 to 90 students apply to the program. Currently, we can only accept 30 students per year. Our current acceptance rate is 30-40%.
Students who are not admitted to the program are eligible for a minor designation immediately upon completion of the summer application studio if the requirements are met. Students who are not admitted can apply again the following year. Meet with the consultant to explain the “design basics” as a study path and understand the requirements.
