The Nevada State Bar Association supports the promotion of access to justice in Nevada by providing legal services to those in need. If you need legal help but can`t afford a lawyer, a Nevada legal aid provider or pro bono legal services may be available to you. Our roadmap for this particular series includes many ways to listen and see. You must meet certain conditions to be entitled to free legal assistance. Find out if you qualify by filling out our easy-to-understand intake form. Nevada Legal Services has a responsibility to promote legal assistance in seeking justice for those who need it most. Through two self-help centres, the Legal Aid Centre works with the Eighth District Court to assist those who wish to represent themselves in family and civil courts. The centres provide general information and fill out blank forms that individuals can use. Legal Aid Center also provides direct representation to income earners in Southern Nevada in the areas of domestic violence, family law, immigration, educational representation, consumer protection, social security, bankruptcy, and foreclosure. Lawyers also represent children in Clark County`s foster care system and older adults and adults with disabilities in the court`s guardianship system. The Legal Aid Centre works with UNLV`s William S.
Boyd School of Law to provide legal information to our community. Boyd law students teach information courses on small claims, bankruptcy, guardianship, paternity and custody, family law, immigration, and record sealing. Litigation and Process Preparation Courses for Litigants and Proof of Recovery Courses are also offered. Family law, bankruptcy and immigration courses are available in Spanish. As a not-for-profit law firm, the Legal Aid Centre`s mission is to “maintain access to justice and provide quality legal advice, advice and representation to individuals who cannot protect their rights because they cannot afford a lawyer.” To this end, the Legal Aid Centre offers a variety of programs and services, including those designed to help victims of family violence, crime and consumer fraud, as well as children in care. The Legal Aid Centre`s pro bono project offers a variety of Ask-A-Lawyer programs so that self-represented individuals receive free 15-minute consultations with pro bono lawyers.
