(g) “hemp” means the cannabis sativa L. plant and any part thereof, including its seeds and all its derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts and salts of isomers, whether cultivated or not, whose concentration of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) does not exceed three tenths of a percent (0.3%) by dry weight, grown or processed in accordance with sections 1 to 11 of this Act. It established new laws to legalize cannabis for medical purposes to address 22 eligible conditions. The new laws originally required the state to start issuing medical cannabis cards to qualified patients by August 2021, but the new law was struck down by the Supreme Court due to “procedural errors.” When the 2018 Farm Bill legalized industrial hemp, states had to decide whether or not to introduce their own hemp plan. In Mississippi, they decided to essentially reflect the 2018 Farm Bill. They legalized hemp and all its derivatives up to 0.3% delta-9 THC. In fact, new legislation for Mississippi specifically removed hemp materials from the state`s list of controlled substances.
Here are some highlights of the relevant Delta 8 Mississippi laws: Mississippi has not passed any state law to legalize hemp under the authority of the 2018 Farm Bill. Delta 8 THC is a natural cannabinoid compound found in marijuana. It`s an analogue of THC, so it has a similar structure to Delta 9 THC – commonly referred to simply as “THC,” but with a slight difference. Structurally, Delta 8 THC has a double bond at the eighth position of the carbon chain, while Delta 9 THC has it at the ninth position. Delta 8 THC is similar in its effect on the human body to Delta 9 THC and produces a psychoactive effect. Delta 8 seems legal in Mississippi, but it`s a gray area. That`s why many online brands of delta-8-THC are not shipped within the state. After learning that Mississippi is a state where neither Delta-8 nor Delta-9 are legal, I became curious as to why? Sometimes the idea of this industry doesn`t quite click. The sight of THC will cause people to write everything off like drugs, that those who participate are not good criminals. A hot topic was whether or not consumption affected productivity on construction sites. That list could grow in the near future as more states consider their own bills to regulate delta-8-THC. According to this bill, hemp is defined as cannabis containing 0.3% or less delta-9 THC. Since there are no restrictions on the content of Delta-8, this bill should make Delta 8 hemp-derived legal. In areas where Delta-8 is legal, it is advisable to proceed with caution when choosing a Delta-8 trader. For many, there may be benefits to buying Delta-8 online.
