Duke is admitted to the High Court of the Bar of Ghana and the New York State Bar. After several years in the United Nations Secretariat, including the International Civil Service Commission and the Children`s Service Administration (New York), he was appointed Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee (UNDP/UNOPS/UNHCR) for three years. Duke was a lawyer with OSLA`s predecessor, the Panel of Counsel, until OSLA`s founding in 2009. Since then, he has been a volunteer lawyer at OSLA while running a small external law firm. Duke is based in the New York office. Currently, OSLA has law firms in Addis Ababa, Beirut, Geneva, Nairobi and New York. OSLA is a small team complemented by dedicated volunteer lawyers. OSLA`s legal team is supported by Judith Balasubramaniam and Talha Rathore. Brandon is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and practiced in the United States before joining the United Nations in 2007, first as a volunteer with the Department of Justice of the United Nations Mission in Kosovo. Since then, he has worked as a lawyer at the United Nations in various capacities. Prior to joining OSLA, Brandon worked with UNMIK`s Human Rights Advisory Group and the Rule of Law Liaison Office. Brandon holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Pittsburgh. Brandon works in the Addis Ababa office.
Dorota is admitted to the bar in Poland and Germany. She has experience in various areas of law, including international humanitarian law and human rights law. Dorota obtained her bachelor`s and master`s degrees in German and Polish law from the Viadrina European University and her master`s degree in Polish law from Adam Mickiewicz University. His legal training also includes studies at the Institut d`études politiques in Paris. Dorota is based in the New York office. Omar is a member of the California and Illinois bars in the United States and obtained his law degree in England and Wales. He practiced as a labor and employment lawyer in the United States before joining the United Nations Development Programme`s Technical Assistance Mission for the Palestinian negotiating team in the permanent status negotiations with Israel. He then worked as a legal officer at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Omar is a doctoral student at Yale Law School, where he previously earned an LLM. He also holds an LLM from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, a Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame School of Law, and a bachelor`s degree from George Washington University. Omar works in the New York office.
Katya qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales in 1999. She practiced labour and criminal law in London before joining the United Nations in 2005 as a litigator at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. Since then, she has served the United Nations in various legal positions, including osla and the United Nations Dispute Settlement Court, and as legal adviser to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi. Katya holds an LLM in Advanced Legal Practice from Northumbria University and studied law in London after obtaining a Master`s degree in Modern History from Oxford University. Katya works in the New York office. Evelyn was admitted to the Supreme Court of Kenya in 2001. She worked for nine years as an appellate lawyer at the International Criminal Lawyer for Rwanda and has since worked with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Uganda as Commissioner for Human Rights, focusing on combating discrimination and strengthening accountability mechanisms. She has served on several committees and management bodies dealing with recruitment, promotions, procurement, contracts and disciplinary matters. Evelyn holds a Master`s degree in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford and an LLM in International and Comparative Law from the University of Pittsburgh. Evelyn works in the Nairobi office.
Julia is qualified to practice as a lawyer in Ontario, Canada, where she has worked in private practice as a litigator in the areas of commercial, labour and human rights law. She joined the United Nations in 2012 and worked for the prosecution trial team in the case of Prosecutors v. Ratko Mladic at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Julia also worked as a legal intern at the Presidency of the International Criminal Court. Julia holds a Doctorate in Law from Queen`s University and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the Université de Montréal. Julia works in the Nairobi office. Shubha is qualified to practice law in India and has worked in the legal department of the Indian Navy for ten years. She gained experience in the field of administrative, labour and criminal law while serving in the Indian Navy as a judge-lawyer (jurist). She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Salgaocar College of Law, Goa, India, and an LLM from the National University of Singapore. She also holds a postgraduate degree from the University of Mumbai, India, in Alternative Methods of Litigation.
Shubha currently works in the Addis Ababa office. Robbie qualified as a lawyer in England and Wales and worked as a criminal defence lawyer for five years, successfully defending clients accused of all sorts of crimes, including murder. In 2010, he moved to Côte d`Ivoire, where he collaborated with the Danish Refugee Council and developed income-generating activity projects for refugees. He then worked with the Rule of Law Section of UNUCI. Since joining OSLA, Robbie has gained extensive experience advising employees on matters related to their employment contract and representation before UNDT and UNAT. Robbie holds a Master`s degree from the University of Edinburgh and studied law at the London Law School. Robbie works in the Geneva office. Mohamed is a judicial member of the Egyptian Administrative Courts. He specializes in administrative and criminal law. Prior to joining OSLA, Mohamed worked for the International Criminal Court and the International Labour Organization. He also completed an internship at the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs.
He worked as a criminal prosecutor at the Attorney General`s Office in Cairo. Mohamed holds a PhD in International Law from the University of Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne. He graduated from the same university in 2005 and holds an LLM in International and Comparative Law from Indiana University School of Law. Mohamed works in our Geneva office.
